chameleon care guide for beginners

Essential Setup for Beginners
Enclosure: Use a screen cage (not glass) for proper ventilation to avoid respiratory infections.
Branches & Plants: Provide numerous vertical and horizontal branches of varying diameters for climbing. Use safe live plants like Pothos, Ficus, or Schefflera to help maintain humidity and offer privacy.
Temperature & Lighting:

  • Basking Spot: 85-90°F (29-32°C) for males, 80°F (27°C) for females.
  • Ambient: 70-75°F (21-24°C).
  • Lighting: A 12-hour cycle with a linear UVB bulb is required to prevent metabolic bone disease.
Hydration: Chameleons do not drink standing water. Mist the enclosure 2-3 times daily or use a dripper system.
